My journey to becoming an esthetician and opening Forme started with my own experience with acne when I was 15. I once danced Ballet professionally and even moved away from home to Washington DC to live in a boarding school dedicated to Ballet training. The pressure of greatness met with the loneliness of leaving home did a number on my skin. Almost overnight, I was plagued with horrible, cystic, acne; I felt like a monster, I couldn’t even look in the mirror without crying. My acne continued to worsen over the next two years. It was so painful and angry; I had enlarged cysts popping if I moved my face awkwardly or laid down on my pillow too hard. My self-esteem dropped right out from under me, and, as a performer, this made going on stage a terrifying experience. I remember one audition season, my last audition season, I received interesting feedback from almost every company I applied to: “Look up”. I remember seeing similar wording on every single response and thinking to myself “but how can I look up, I’m too embarrassed.”. My career didn’t last long after that, and not just for that reason, but more on that another time!

During all of this, I was seeking help from one dermatologist to the next - trying anything and everything to get this “plague” off my face. Nothing was working or even helping. I felt so defeated and I was certain this was forever. After two years of trying everything from birth control to tretinoin I sat down with a dermatologist to discuss Accutane. When looking over the paperwork and all that it entailed, something in me felt off – something wasn’t right. I couldn’t understand how putting something so damaging and dangerous in my body was going to help skin that was already screaming “inflamed”. I left the appointment without a prescription and decided to look into the issue more deeply to figure out what was going wrong internally that has my skin begging for attention like this.

After changing diet and lifestyle and incorporating gentle, professional-grade products, low and behold, 6 months later, my skin was healed. That was it for me, I knew I needed to help out others who are going through what I just went through. In 2019 I was licensed and began working as an esthetician.

My mission has always been about you. I am here to meet you where you are at and offer real solutions to get you to where you want to be. I named my business “ForMe” because at the end of the day everything I do is For You and I wanted you to be reminded of that every time you say or hear the name.
